Why choose us for Rohnert Park dental exams
New Leaf Rohnert Park offers a wide variety of dental treatment options, but routine dental exams are one of the most essential appointments we offer. Regular brushing and flossing help to keep your teeth healthy, but oftentimes areas are missed that can lead to tooth decay and tooth damage.
Attending routine dental exams allows our dentists to catch potential dental concerns, such as early signs of cavities or gum disease. Catching these issues early helps us address them before they become a major problem and put your tooth at risk.
At New Leaf Rohnert Park, we know a dental exam can be scary. Dr. Eddie Kuo and the team will work with you to make your exam as relaxing and comfortable as possible. We will walk you through the exam and, using intra oral photography and CBCT imaging, we can show you any signs of potential concerns and work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that works for you.

FAQ
WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?
As a new patient, you can expect a more thorough initial dental exam. It will often begin with a general intake questionnaire that goes over your medical and oral history which helps the dental team understand potential conditions that may contribute to oral problems, such as medical conditions causing dry mouth, certain medications or medical conditions that can cause complications with anesthesia. All these things will help the dentist create your individualized treatment plan.
After going over your history, the dental team will begin a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and jaw. This will include x-rays and intra oral photography to detect potential dental abnormalities that may not be visible to the naked eye. We offer enhanced dental imaging with the use of cone-beam computed tomography, or CBCT. This state-of-the-art imaging system rotates a cone-shaped beam around your head, enabling us to recreate a 3D image of your teeth, mouth, and jaw, often showing things missed in traditional dental x-rays. We also utilize panoramic x-rays to help detect impacted wisdom teeth.
Intra oral photography allows us to show you dental concerns such as signs of bruxism, poor gum health, small cracks in dental enamel, and much more. This helps us show you how to better care for your teeth and eliminate these possible concerns before they become dental problems.
Dental exams include:
- Examine your teeth for signs of decay, cavities, or damage.
- Check your gums for signs of gum disease or inflammation.
- Inspect your tongue, throat, and other soft tissues for any abnormalities or signs of oral cancer.
- Evaluate your bite and jaw alignment.
- Take dental X-rays, if needed, to detect issues that may not be visible during a visual inspection, such as cavities between teeth or problems with the jawbone.
Once the dentist completes the exam and reviews the x-rays, they will discuss your individualized treatment plan.
